Hello, my name is Colleen Fava and I am happy that you found me. Located in Guelph, Ontario, I offer online, phone or in person appointments for my clients. Working with individuals, couples and families, I am a registered psychotherapist and counsellor as well as a reiki practitioner.
My hope is to help my clients through their challenges by empowering them to look within to determine answers that best reflect their needs. So many factors determine what we each need to work through. I assist clients in figuring out what steps they may need to take and also help them deal with what gets in the way of taking these steps.
Some of the ways I work with my clients are with:
Talk therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy and interpersonal therapy)
Experiential therapy (including body psychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation and visualization)
Energy work (including reiki and chakra work)
Some emotions that I assist clients in working through include anger, sadness, grief, loss and anxiety.
With life situations that may bring about the above emotions such as:
- relationships, transitions (i.e. divorce) and loss (such as the death of a loved one or loss of a job) are all issues I may assist with.
- I also work with anxiety, addictions to alcohol, drugs and food and other problems that are getting in the way.
- All with the ultimate goal of making space for happiness and my clients’ specific life goals.
Colleen Fava, Registered Psychotherapist
A graduate of the Spiritual Psychotherapy program at the Transformational Arts College of Spiritual and Holistic Training (TAC), I have a BA from The University of Western Ontario and have completed the Spiritual Director program at TAC. I have been practicing psychotherapy since January 2015 and am a registered member with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Coming into this field as a result of being unfulfilled in my prior career in sales and marketing, I am truly passionate about helping people reach their fullest potential. I offer a safe space for clients to release and work on what may be getting in the way.
I volunteered with Hospice Toronto for five years from 2006 to 2011, where I was partnered with children to provide support while their main parents/caregivers were dying. I also worked with individuals who were terminally ill and dying who needed assistance that included physical and emotional needs.
Passionate about working with the dying and their families and friends, I believe we can do a better job in North America when it comes to honouring our loved ones while they are transitioning as well as supporting ourselves/their caregivers in grieving.
We all have the power to change our lives for the better. Small changes over time can make the biggest differences. Some steps are pragmatic and others are filled with the need for deep emotional healing. My job is to shine a light on what may be getting in the way.
